IN AN EMERGENCY DIAL 9-1-1
9-1-1 is an emergency telephone number that provides IMMEDIATE and DIRECT access to FIRE, POLICE and EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES.
WHEN TO USE 9-1-1:
Call 9-1-1 to report a crime, a fire, a heart attack, a serious injury or any situation requiring the IMMEDIATE response of a fire truck, ambulance or a police car.
WHAT THE 9-1-1 OPERATOR WILL NEED TO KNOW:
WHAT is the emergency (describe the type of emergency)
WHERE is the emergency (give the location of the emergency)
WHO are you (give you name and the phone number you are calling from)
IMPORTANT: CALL 9-1-1 FIRST in all emergency situations. STAY CALM. While you are providing additional information, help is already on the way.
STAY ON THE TELEPHONE--Do not hang up until the operator tells you to. The operator can give you instructions on what to do until help arrives.
DO NOT CALL 9-1-1 FOR:
Road/travel and severe weather information, repair for your household appliances, car, etc.
Complaints of excessive noise, littering, pets up a tree, legal advise, etc.
Consult the information pages in your telephone directory for the appropriate non-emergency or business numbers.
